Pleasure Bath
The life-size image of a bathing woman is projected in a bathtub filled with a milky liquid. Water pours into the tub as she makes herself comfortable in the bubble bath. The (projected) foam bubbles permit her naked body to be only partially visible. The lady hums contentedly, and is enjoying washing her body with a sponge. She files her nails on her hands and feet, plucks her eyebrows, and talks on the telephone. She is enjoying herself and her body. The visitor becomes the voyeur of an intimate situation.
The sequence is 14 minutes long, runs in real-time, and continuously repeats itself.
The video piece "Pleasure Bath" was first on view during the solo exhibition "life size" in the bathroom of the gallery Gabriele Rivet, May 5 - June 10, 2000.
