Family Ties
2014 – HD, 3:00 min, installation for three digital photo frames
Family portraits are often presented on desks and shelves. Similar to that here the heads of 38 persons appear on three digital photo frames telling their position within their own family. For example a woman calls her self a wife, a daughter, a sister, an aunt and a mother at the same time. Sometimes the family members look at each other, sometimes they look into the camera. The result is a rhythmic listing following a certain dramaturgy.
It becomes obvious that we define ourselves through our relationships. Above all our personality is shaped through the family and our position within it. - for life.
