Mirages Clip

2019 – 01:11 min, FullHD Video

The video focuses on the repetitive gestures of magicians during the performance of their tricks. Hands that seem to hide nothing.

Magic, like film, is about creating illusions, and historically, magic is a direct precursor to film. For example, in 1888 the magician and later film pioneer George Meliés took over the theatre of the magician Jean Eugène Robert-Houdin in Paris and transformed it into a cinema in 1896.

There is also a somewhat longer version lasting 4:00 min, which was created in 2023.
Both clips use video material from the three-channel installation “Trugbilder” (Illusions) from 2017.
