Intruders

2016 – 12:26 min, Full HD Video, installation for a large scaled video projection or flatscreen TV

Young people are trying to climb into the picture from all sides - yet they are constantly interrupted and must take cover. In times of closing borders we might consider them as undesirable refugees or intruders, not allowed to enter.

The video work was realized for the group exhibition "in_visible limits“ and was on display from February 2016 until April 2017 at Kunstverein Aschaffenburg, Kunstverein Konstanz, Kunsthaus Winterthur and Kunst(zeug)haus Rapperswil, CH . The exhibitions explored the topic border in all different aspects (curator: Raimund Menges).

In January 2017 "Intruders" was shown at the festival Filmwinter in Stuttgart. In July and August 2017 the work was part of the exhibition "Heimat?" (Homeland?) at the project space of the Deutscher Künstlerbund in Berlin, curated by the artist Annebarbe Kau. By scanning QR-codes hanging at the gallery window the works appeared on the smartphone displays of the visitors. Here the video received an additional meaning, because for refugees the smartphone is the only possibility to stay in contact with their family and friends. This device became part of their home.

The size of the work can be adjusted to the specific requirements.
