1998 – video projection in the window of a temporary construction

When darkness falls, one discovers fragments of an oversized, naked female body in the window of a temporary trailer on a large construction site in the middle of the city. A giant seems to be inside, doubled over and twisting from one position to another, filling the trailer's entire space. The public can only view the work from outside. The window appears to allow a view into life inside. It works like a peephole. The focused gaze of the voyeur is not the only subject here because completely different associations may also come to mind: Memories of being imprisoned, held prisoner, being secure or hidden, for instance.

The title is also to be seen as a reference to the German idiom for a finished film shot: "in the box".

The work was first presented as part of the trailer project "Brückengang" at Heumarkt in Cologne from 8 - 15 November 1998.
